A couple of weeks ago, British retailer John Lewis rolled out a new commercial entitled, with typical British understatement, “John Lewis Christmas Advert 2011.” It has been hailed far and wide as the best Christmas spot of 2011. And I’m inclined to agree as nothing else I’ve seen in the interim has matched it for sheer storytelling power or emotional heft. It’s almost as good as JC Penney’s “The Aviator” from 2007. Which is high praise, indeed. Enjoy.
